Advertising Sales Positions
Packet Media Group, publisher of
twelve highly respected, award-winning community newspapers and
companion web sites in central New Jersey has several openings in
the Advertising Sales department:
Account Executive (Retail)
This position requires a
high level of daily account prospecting both by in-person visits to
local prospects and telephone prospecting. A high activity level and
close rate is expected. The successful candidate will exhibit
entrepreneurial skills in developing and closing new business along
with developing long-standing relationships. A successful candidate
must be capable of consultative selling, be adept at verbal and
written presentations and be able to work with rate cards and rate
calculations. The position requires attention to detail which
includes handling ad design, ad copy and managing accounts
receivable when necessary.
Account Executive (Real Estate)
This position requires experiences in creating marketing solutions
targeted to real estate agents, real estate brokers, mortgage
companies or other real estate related businesses. Candidate must
be articulate, self-motivated, organized, goal oriented and
understand the consultative selling process. You must be good at
prospecting and driven to close new business.
Account Executive (Automotive)
This position will be responsible for selling a cross section of
products, including weekly paid and free newspaper advertising as
well as magazines and online products. This diversified media plan
will be sold across a portfolio of automotive prospects. Your
responsibilities will include developing new business through active
cold-calling, presentations and implementing ongoing solutions for
existing accounts.
Job requirements:
One or more years of direct business-to-business sales experience or
business to consumer experience or sales experience of a similar
nature. This job is a great fit for a positive, energetic, and
self-motivated individual who is excited about opening new accounts
and increasing sales volumes and being a winner on a goal-oriented
sales team. Basic computer, math and writing skills required and
college degree preferred.

consultants to represent our print and digital publications. We
serve New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley region through more than
a dozen trusted newspapers and websites, including NJ.com, The
Star-Ledger, and LehighValleyLive.com.
We look for candidates who can work with clients through
consultative, needs-based selling to create successful digital
and print advertising campaigns. You should have a strong
history with the sales process from prospecting to closing, with
a proven record of increasing sales in a competitive
marketplace. Solid computer skills are a must, and experience
with CRM software is highly desirable.

Internship Opportunity
$8/hr; 100 hrs max
Minimum 8-10 hours per week, flexible schedule
The
intern will gain knowledge of New Jersey newspapers and build
contacts while observing the overall operation of a non-profit trade
association working to meet the needs of a diverse membership of
daily, non-daily, ethnic and specialty newspapers and their
websites. A student equipped with graphic design skills and
marketing experience may also contribute to collaboration on product
enhancements to improve overall brand and ROI for existing
advertising programs. The intern will also be exposed to print media
buying and gain an understanding of invoice and compliance
procedures relating to various local, regional and national
newspaper and website advertising schedules.
Primary duties:
•
Contact ad managers at ethnic and specialty newspapers to collect
current information and update existing media kit documents.
•
Verify advertising rates, coverage areas, production specs and
deadlines for all NJ Press Association member newspapers.
•
Update various newspaper personnel lists and other information
databases.
•
Assist NJPA Communications Manager and Ad Director with collection
and verification of member newspaper ZIP Code circulation
distribution.
Additional duties:
•
Recommend design improvements for database spreadsheets and media
kit cohesion. Provide graphic design assistance if equipped with
proper skill set.
•
Assist with accounting reports and tearsheet filing.
Requirements/qualifications:
• Must
have valid transportation and be available to work at the West
Trenton office a minimum of 8 hours per week.
•
Knowledge of MS Office – especially Excel. Experience with Access
databases and Adobe InDesign helpful, but not required.
•
Professional communication skills including attention to detail,
proper grammar, accurate spelling and courteous phone manner.
