2012 Scholarship and Internship Programs

Summer Internship Program - Revised for 2012. NJPF awarded four  eight-week summer internships at New Jersey newspapers. Each student will receive $3,200.

Bernard Kilgore Memorial Scholarship - $5,000 scholarship awarded to recipient also named Garden State Scholastic Press Association's New Jersey High School Journalist of the Year.

Mac Borg New Media Internship - NEW for 2012! Paid summer internship worth $2,100 to college student who is pursuing a career in journalism and wants to expand beyond the traditional newspaper experience.

Richard Drukker Memorial Scholarship - $2,000 awarded to an outstanding Montclair State University student journalist.

Isaac Roth Newspaper Carrier Scholarship - $2,000 awarded to a New Jersey newspaper carrier or the child of an adult carrier.

 2012 Kilgore Scholarship Winner
NJ High School Journalist of the Year

Emily Masters, a senior at Northern Highlands Regional High School, has been awarded the foundation's 2012 Bernard Kilgore Memorial Scholarship. She will receive the award at the New Jersey Press Association's "Press Night" editorial awards banquet on April 26 at The Hamilton Manor in Hamilton. Emily also has been named the New Jersey High School Journalist of the Year.

Internship Winner

Rachel Auerbach of Ocean is the first recipient of this new internship program. She will serve her internship this summer at APP.com, the online division of the Asbury Park Press.

A sophomore journalism major at University of Maryland, Rachel is a regular contributor to the University of Maryland’s newspapers, Diamondback and Eclipse, and has written for Jersey Girl Soccer newspaper. She also has volunteered at the school's television stations, Terps TV and UMTV, as a reporter and a floor director.
